Applicants who do not have a roommate group can add their name to a room preference list, and USH will manually assign an available bed space after room self-selection is completed.
If your suite style is available in another building, you will need to select that.

Room selection begins in June 9, 2026 and ends June 13, 2026. Your specific start date and time will depend on your time slot.
For incoming students with complete applications and lease documents, roommate matching will be open from April 27 to June 1.
Requested housing is putting your name on USH’s list of students who would like to be offered an application for housing for the term the student put their name on the list for. If your name is on the requested housing list it does not mean you have secured housing. This does not mean we do not have housing to offer you.
After receiving your request to house, USH will need to verify that you have completed the enrollment process with the University. After your request to house has been verified, USH will send an email and text notification that you have been offered an application and can continue to the next steps of the application process.
Applicants new to on campus housing are required to complete their Application for On Campus Living through WCU before applying to USH.
Pay $200 non-refundable and non-transferable application fee.
Applicant electronically signs the Lease Agreement, and other required documents in the Resident Portal.
If the applicant is under 18, the Guarantor(s) must also sign the Lease Agreement and other required documents. The documents will be emailed to Guarantor(s) to electronically sign via DocuSign.
Guaranty of Lease electronically signed via DocuSign & approved guarantor(s).
Housing is not secure until all steps are completed.
Students have secured housing once their lease has been signed by all parties, student, guarantor and USH representative. An email notification will be sent confirming that your lease has been completed.
The rooms you see will depend on the following:
Availability at the time you select a room.
Groups of 2 on north campus will only see 1×1
Groups of 4 on north campus will only see 4×1, 2×2
Groups of 6 on north campus will only see 3×2
For Transfer students, groups of 2 or more on south campus will see available apartments at Village and East Village
Yes, you can search for a compatible roommate within the roommate matching process. We highly encourage students to use this option in the hopes it creates the best experience for you during your time living with USH. If you find a roommate, select each other as roommate and confirm your group.
Room selection will begin February 26, 2025 through February 28, 2025 and resumes on March 3, 2025 through March 4, 2025. Your specific sta rt date and time will depend on your time slot.
Each roommate group will be assigned a time slot. Your time slot will be the earliest time any member of the group can log in and assign all members to a bed space. All members of the group will have the same time slot.
Time slots will be assigned based on the following:
Roommate group size – actual number of members in group, not desired group size.
Selection of north vs south campus.
The earliest you can access room selection is your time slot start time. You have until the end of room selection to choose a room, but please remember that additional time slots will be opening after yours.
The rooms you see will depend on the following:

Groups of 2 on north campus will only see 2×1, 1×1
Groups of 3 on north campus will only see 3×1, 4×1, 2×2

All members of the group will have the same time slot. Only one person needs to login to select a room and assign all roommates to beds.
You will need to select another room.
If your suite style is available in another building, you will need to select that.
If your suite style and building are not available, you will need to change the size of your roommate group in order to select a different suite style.
There is a strong demand for The Village and East Village Apartments this year and availability may be limited based on your time slot.
Applicants who do not have a roommate group will have an opportunity to add their name to a room preference list and USH will manually assign to an available bed space after room self-selection is completed.
You will need to have the number of people needed to fill an enter unit to participate in room self-selection. Incomplete groups will be given a later time and each person will need to log in to add their name to a room preference list. USH will then manually assign each person to an available bed space.
USH has only 15 studios in Commonwealth Hall. If you do not see a Studio when it is your time to select a room then it is not an option and you will need to select a different suite style.
If you have an approved ADA accommodation and you have selected to participate in roommate matching you will receive a timeslot and participate in room self-selection.
If you have chosen to be administratively placed, you do not need to participate in room selection. USH will manually assign you to a bed space.
After room selection closes, USH will manually assign you to an available bed space.
Both WCU Managed Housing and USH Affiliated Housing offer incoming students housing. Students are not guaranteed their first preference of WCU vs. USH Affiliated Housing, a specific community, or specific unit style.
West Chester University prioritizes incoming first year students for housing.
For USH, first-year students are housing in Allegheny Hall, Brandywine Hall, and Commonwealth Hall.
Transfer Students are eligible to live in any USH community, Allegheny Hall, Brandywine Hall, Commonwealth Hall, University Hall, The Village Apartments, and the East Village Apartments based on availability.
The Application for On-Campus Living is a requirement of WCU to live on-campus. The Application for On-Campus Living includes the Housing Eligibility and Meningitis Waiver information. They are required to be completed and approved before incoming students are allowed to apply for USH. The Application for On Campus Living can be found in the RamPortal.
USH is a separate legal entity from WCU and residents of USH communities must sign a Lease Agreement, an individual agreement that covers their assigned bedroom space and any common space shared with other occupants.
Residents, however, are only responsible for the terms specified in their own agreement and will not be held responsible for unpaid rent or any individually incurred fees by roommates.
North and South Campus Leases are 9+ months in length.
Incoming First-Year students participating in the WCU Honors College and have a completed USH Lease Agreement will be housed in Honors College designated housing in Allegheny Hall.
As part of the Honors College experience, all incoming first year studenta are required to live in the Honors College designated housing.
The demand for on campus housing at WCU is high. In order to accommodate all the students who request on-campus housing, USH anticipates that a small percentage of students will start out the fall semester in a triple room.
The suite will have additional furniture to accommodate the residents and the three residents of the bedroom that is tripled will receive a rent credit. University Student Housing will work diligently to de-triple units as beds become available.
All applicants are required to submit a non-refundable and non-transferable $200 application fee at the time that the application is submitted.
If a student applies and then decides that they are no longer interested in living with USH, this fee will not be returned.
“Affiliated Housing” means that USH communities are not owned by West Chester University, and are Affiliated with WCU.
University Student Housing is responsible for the day-to-day management of the communities, including leasing and assigning students, as well as all facility-related issues.
Rent and any housing related fees are billed separately by USH and are not included on the West Chester University invoice.
WCU provides Residence Life and Public Safety in USH’s buildings.
All utilities are included in the rent except landline telephone service. Utilities included are electric, water, sewage, waste removal, and wifi.
USH operates six communities on the campus of West Chester University. Allegheny Hall, Brandywine Hall, Commonwealth Hall and University Hall are located on North Campus. The Village Apartments and East Village Apartments are located on South Campus.

Our garden-style apartment communities, The Village Apartments and East Village Apartments, are located on WCU’s South Campus at 181 Carey Drive West Chester, PA 19383 just south of the Main Campus off of South New Street and across from the Football stadium.
Yes! All WCU rules and regulations apply when living in USH buildings.
No pets are permitted at USH communities. If you have a service dog, service dog in training, or emotional support animal, please complete the USH ADA process.
Students living in the north campus residence halls are required to have a meal plan. This includes residents of Allegheny Hall, Brandywine Hall, Commonwealth Hall and University Hall. Meal plans are optional for students living at
The Village Apartments and East Village Apartments.

All USH residents are required to have a guarantor on file who meets the USH Occupancy Guidelines and Qualifying Criteria.
A guarantor for an apartment is an individual who agrees to be legally responsible for the tenant’s rent and other lease obligations if the tenant defaults.
The $200 deposit paid to WCU covers the $200 acceptance fee to the Univeristy.
USH applicants are required to pay a $200 non-refundable and non-transferable application fee. This fee is due within 14 days of you being offered an application from USH.
The WCU Residence Life staff is available to assist with roommate mediation to help resolve any conflicts that arise. If mediation is unsuccessful, occupants may request a room change. Room change requests are not guaranteed and will be granted based on availability.
Certain suite styles have limited availability. If you do not see the suite style that you are looking for when it is your time to select a room, this suite style has reached full occupancy.
USH partners with Microfridge to deliver microwave/minifridge combined units. You can order one here so that it is delivered before you move in.

Many students find success utilizing word of mouth and social media. Any current WCU student, who does not currently reside in a USH community and meets the USH Occupancy Guidelines and Qualifying Criteria, is eligible to apply. A current USH resident is not able to take over a lease for another USH resident.
If a replacement is not found, you remain responsible for the terms of the Lease Agreement, including payment.
Most banks have a daily transaction limit, and may inhibit your ability to make a payment online. Contact your bank prior to making a payment to inquire how much you can charge to your card in one day.
Yes, it is the responsibility of the student, however, to secure enough financial aid through loans, grants, and scholarships to cover the cost of USH rent in addition to tuition, meal plans or other University fees.
You must pay your full WCU tuition and all other fees before WCU will release available funds to USH. Financial aid awards can vary from year to year, so students are encouraged to calculate their needs and apply for aid well in advance to the start of the school year.
You will be required to pay out of pocket if financial aid is not available prior to move-in.
Financial aid goes directly to the University’s Financial Aid Office and is not disbursed to USH. After the University takes out the appropriate amount of tuition, meal plan, and other fees, the student is responsible to authorize a fund transfer of their refund to USH. Please note that payment plans with the University, or additional charges added to your RamPortal account, may affect the amount of aid initially authorized to USH.
For the fall semester this authorization must take place no later than August 15th, or your move in date, whichever comes first. For the spring semester this authorization must take place no later than January 15th or your move in date, whichever comes first.
USH aims to provide a welcoming space for students of all identities. In the housing process you will be able to select Gender Inclusive Housing.

USH is using a Randomized Selection process for Returning Students because, in previous years, we received a large number of housing requests on the first day the process opened. To make the process fair for everyone, we are assigning housing through a Random Selection process instead of a first-come, first-served basis.
To be entered into the Randomized Selection, students will need to submit a Request for Housing during the allotted timeframe.
Allegheny Hall, Brandywine Hall, Commonwealth Hall and University Hall on North Campus. The Village and East Village Apartments on South Campus. You can choose from all USH communities, University Hall, The Village and East Village Apartments all exclusively house upper-class students.

USH is using a Randomized Selection process for Returning Students because, in previous years, we received a large number of housing requests on the first day the process opened. To make the process fair for everyone, we are assigning housing through a Random Selection process instead of a first-come, first-served basis.
Those who submit a Request for Housing between designated dates, will be entered into the Randomized Selection process.
The time/order you submit your Request for Housing during the timeframe for the Randomized Selection does not matter, as applicants will be chosen at random. Do not feel pressured and/or rushed to submit your name as soon as the process opens.
Those who submit their Request for Housing between October 28th and November 8th will be entered in a Randomized Selection process to determine application offers. All names will be entered into a randomization software and application offers will be determined at random.
USH will notify all students who submitted their Request for Housing between October 27th and November 7th of their Request for Housing status on November 17th.
Those who are offered an application will have 7 days* to complete the application in its entirety. This includes paying the $200 non-refundable application fee, completing all steps in our application process, and both the student and guarantor(s) signing the Lease Agreement.
If you don’t receive a bed space in the initial Randomized Selection, you will be placed on the USH Request to House List in the randomized order determined in during the process. Bed spaces will be offered based on your position on this list. As students cancel their application or don’t finish their lease in time, new bed spaces will open and be offered to students on the Request to House list.
Any student that submits their request after 4:00pm on November 7th will be placed onto our Request for Housing list after those who were not chosen during Randomized Selection. We will offer these students applications, if/when they become available, in the order in which they submit their Request for Housing
For Current WCU Students, roommate matching will open on during the Request for Housing process. You will have until January 30, 2026 to find and match with preferred roommates.
Yes, make sure to participate in roommate matching and search for your desired roommates.
Create a roommate group and confirm your group. All roommates should complete this process during the Request for Housing phase.
For North Campus roommate groups, your group does not need the exact number of roommates you want for the suite style you desire. Example: Groups of 3 will be able to see 4-person suites (2×2 & 4×1).
For South Campus roommate groups, you need to have a roommate groups of 3 or 4 to select an apartment in either The Village or East Village apartments
