The USH application process will be available to all Returning WCU Students beginning on October 27, 2025 at 12:00pm.
How the Process Works
for Returning Students
We are utilizing a Lottery Selection Process that will be open from October 27, 2025 at 12:00pm through November 7, 2025 at 12:00pm.
No rush during lottery selection process. Students can either choose to enter the lottery as a roommate group or an individual. All students have a fair chance of being selected in the lottery for USH.
If students request housing after November 7, 2025 at 12:00pm they will be added to our request to house list and offered housing as it becomes available.
Returning WCU Students are able to Request Housing with USH throughout the entire year, but we recommend to apply during the lottery.
During the Lottery Process, you can match with roommates so you’re considered together in the lottery. You can also apply on your own, forming a group is not required. All students have an fair chance in the lottery, whether they apply individually or with roommates.
North Campus: match with 1 roommate.
South Campus: match with up to 3 roommates.
Submitting a group request doesn’t guarantee you’ll be placed together—it just keeps you in the lottery as a group. If your group is selected, each person must still complete their own application and sign their lease. Once everyone has signed, you can confirm your roommate group and choose a unit together.
Notification of your lottery results will be emailed on November 17, 2025.
Students who receive an application must complete all necessary leasing steps in 21 days* to secure housing with USH.
If you were not selected for an application, or requested housing after November 7th, you will remain on the request to house list.
*Timeframe to complete the application process is subject to change.

Students’ experiences in on-campus housing benefit from living with roommates of your choice. As a returning student, choose to live with a select group of friends that have also secure housing with USH.
Students who have completed their lease will be able to roommate match with other USH leaseholders. You must complete Roommate Matching by January 30, 2026 to participate in Room Self-Selection.
When matching with roommates, you all must have selected either North or South Campus as your preference. Choosing South Campus does not guarantee placement on South, but matches you with other students who prefer South Campus
If you do not receive an application in the Lottery Selection, you will be placed on the request to house list in the order your name was selected for the lottery.
If you request housing after November 7 at 12:00 pm, your name will be added to the request to house list in the order received.
Step 1
Create an account in the USH Resident Portal, or log-in to your existing account. If you have previously created an account, do not create a new one.
Step 2
Choose Housing Application and select Academic Year 2026-2027 from the drop-down menu. When submitting your request to house, you will be required to complete a housing survey. You can follow the link here to view the questions and how to complete the survey.

Step 3
Wait for an email from leasing@ushcommunities.org on 11/17/2025 to know if you have been offered an application. If you submit your request for housing after 11/7/2025 at 12:00pm, you will not receive an email on 11/17/2025 unless there is available housing.
Step 4
Pay $200 non-refundable application fee and fill out the application. Sign the USH Lease Agreement & Documents within designated time frame to secure housing.

Lottery Results Emailed
Selected students receive a housing application.
You’ll have 21 days to sign your lease.

All students must move out within 24 hours of your last final and at the latest, May 9 at 10:00am. -
Move-In Day
You will select a time slot to determine your arrival to campus.
