Make an Informed Decision

West Chester University offers two-on-campus housing providers: WCU Managed and USH Affiliated. We recommend you explore both options and discover which one is the best fit.

10 Days to Apply

No need to rush to your application. There’s no advantage to applying the moment the application opens. As long as you submit during the application period, you’ll be considered for housing.

More Time to Find Roommate(s)

Students who wish to live together as roommates should submit a roommate group request during the application process. Each student in the roommate group must select the same provider and must individually submit an application.

Find Your People First!

Fall semester is when friendships really take shape. Moving the Housing process to January gives you a full semester to get to know people and decide who you want to live with, without having to commit before you’re ready.

No Race to the Finish Line

Submitting your application at a set time won’t give you an advantage. You won’t have to leave class, step away from work, or wait at your laptop to get housing.

Make an Informed Decision

By January, you’ll have a semester behind you: your grades, your schedule, your budget, and a clearer idea of what next year looks like. You’ll have time over winter break to talk it through with family and compare your options.

Current WCU students interested in living on-campus in USH for the 2027-2028 academic year should complete the Returning Student Housing Application

Application for On-Campus Living Submission

Students start by completing the Application for On-Campus Living in RamPortal (select the Housing/Dining tile) and selecting their preferred housing provider:

  • WCU Managed Housing
  • USH Affiliated Housing

Students may submit an Application for only one provider. After selecting their preferred housing provider in the Application for On-Campus Living, students are directed to that provider’s individual housing application process.

Each Provider Requires the student to complete the following to officially have submitted an application:

  • Complete Lifestyle Questionnaire
  • Choose to submit as part of a roommate group or as an individual.
  • If submitting as a roommate group:
    • Participate in roommate matching and create or join a roommate group

Housing Offers & Waitlist

How Housing Offers Work

USH enters applications (individual and roommate groups) into a random number program and assigns an order of offer. Those offered housing must complete Step 2 to secure a room/suite/apartment.

How the Waitlist Works

First Choice Provider Waitlist

Applications submitted between January 11 and 21 get priority. If you are not offered an application in the first round, you’ll keep your place on the waitlist, and offers will continue as beds become available.

Alternate Provider Waitlist

If you do not receive an offer, you will be given the option to join the waitlist for WCU Managed Housing.  These requests will be considered based on the date you request WCU Managed and will be offered as their space becomes available.

Waitlist for students who did not participate in the initial Housing Application Process:

If applying after January 21, 2027 at 12pm, students will be given the opportunity to join one or both waitlists through the Application for On-Campus Living.

How to apply

Returning students who want to live on-campus in USH will apply for housing for Fall 2027-Spring 2028 through RamPortal – Housing & Dining Tile.

Roommate Groups

Students can match with a friend(s) by selecting a roommate group during the application process. Each student must individually submit an application with the same provider to be linked.

If you choose to request housing with a roommate group, the group is considered together when housing offers are made.  On North Campus you can match with one other individual and on South Campus you can match up to 3 others in USH Affiliated and up to 4 others in WCU Managed.

Submitting a request does not guarantee you will be placed together; it keeps you together in the offer process. Once all students in the group have signed their agreements, you can confirm your roommate group and be ready for room self-selection.

Applying solo? That works too. Individual applicants and roommate groups have an equal chance of receiving housing.

Offers & Signing Lease

Housing Offer and Signing Lease Agreement
  • If you receive an offer, you must complete the following, within the deadline in your offer:
    • Pay $200 non-refundable application fee
    • Sign your lease agreement by the stated deadline, then finalize your roommate group.
Room Selection

You will receive a time slot, dependent upon your group size, to select a room/suite/apartment.  Room selection begins on March 1, 2027.
